Analysing Pan-European Payment Initiatives
Senior Industry Leaders Will Share Their Insights
Attempts at creating a pan-European payment system have been ongoing for nearly two decades. Whilst past initiatives have struggled to achieve their ambitious goals, the payments industry continues to evolve, driven by various cross-border, transformative projects.
From mobile transactions to the digital euro, the acceleration toward digital payments shows no signs of slowing. These developments could help to unite the underlying technology and fragmented infrastructure that has acted as one of the main barriers to the harmonisation of European payments. However, solving the interoperability issue continues to remain a challenge for the sector and as past payment initiatives have demonstrated, taking a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is not always the most effective.
Join the Financial Times and McKinsey & Company at our annual drinks reception and hear from a panel of industry experts to discuss the challenges of creating a harmonised European payment system and the technology and innovation that could help to make this a reality.
